Itzel Nogueras was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, and grew up in Central Florida. She began her college career at the University of Central Florida before transferring to Liberty University. Itzel earned her Bachelor's degree in Special Education with a minor in Youth Ministry. She earned her Master's in Administration and Supervision, an Ed.S. in Curriculum and Instruction, and is currently working on her Ed.D. degree at Liberty University. She is licensed to teach Elementary (K-6), Special Education (K-12), Spanish (K-12), and Administration.
Itzel student taught at Amherst County High School with Mr. Maddox and Mr. Lockhart in 2018. During her student teaching semester, she was selected as a Teacher of Promise. For the last four years, she has worked as a Spanish teacher at Heritage High School and received the Lynchburg Living Top Teacher award in 2020. This past summer, she worked as the summer school principal at Sheffield Elementary School. Itzel is excited to step into this new role as dean of students. She is looking forward to getting to know everyone in Amherst, collaborating with teachers, and helping students be successful.
