Behind the Wheel Driver Education

Students may sign up for Behind the Wheel if they have completed the classroom portion of Driver Education or are currently enrolled in the classroom (10th grade Health & Physical Education) and have had their learner's permit for three months.

The program takes seven days, two hours a day.  Students will be on the range four days, Monday through Thursday.  They will be on the road three days, either Friday, Monday and Tuesday or Friday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Students may be required to drive additional hours before being tested.  We can only test a student within 30 days of their eligibility date therefore a student may need to return to be tested.  There is no additional cost for extra hours or testing.

During the school year, we drive from 3:00 to 5:00 each day.  In the summer we have 4 groups a day; 8:00 to 10:00, 10:00 to 12:00, 12:00 to 2:00 and 2:00 to 4:00.

The cost is $175.00 payable on the first day of class.  Make checks out to "Amherst County High School"

Please e-mail or call 946-2898 if you have any additional questions.
