Mr. Segar Jordan began his career with ACPS in 2010 as a Social Studies teacher at Amherst County High School through the 2020 school year.  He taught African American Studies, Minority Studies, Comparative Religions, Government, World History II, Economics & Personal Finance, and summer school.  During that time, he was also the Varsity Girls Basketball Coach for 2 years, the Varsity Boys Basketball Coach for 9 years, and an assistant outdoor track coach, focusing on the throwers (Shot-put and Discus). 

Mr. Jordan's administrative experience began during the 2020-2021 School year when he was an Amherst Remote Academy Administrator for Secondary Programs. The following 2021-2022 school year, Mr. Jordan was the Dean of Students at Monelison Middle School. 

 

Mr. Jordan and his family are deeply engrained in the Amherst County community.  His wife is a second-grade teacher at Amelon Elementary, and his two young sons will attend ACPS in a few years.  You can also see Mr. Jordan officiating youth basketball for the rec department on the weekends during the season.  

Mr. Jordan attended Bridgewater College, graduating with honors with a Bachelor’s Degree in History and Political Science with an endorsement in Education. While at Bridgewater College, he was a 4-year letterman on the basketball team, earning academic all-conference awards. He later attended the University of Virginia where he earned his Master’s Degree with a professional endorsement in Supervision and Leadership in May of 2020. 

As an educator, Mr. Jordan prides himself on being fair and consistent with the students and building strong relationships with the families that he serves.
